Installation instructions for the GhostScript HP DeskJet (670,850, 890,
1600) driver
To install the driver you need a complete GhostScript 6.50 and GSView installation.
The necessary files can be found at: http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/
You need the following files:
gs650os2.zip (5534 KB) GhostScript 6.50
gsv34os2.zip (879 KB) GSView Version 3.4 or newer version of GSView
To install GhostScrip use the GSView installation programm. Therefore copy
both archives ((gs650os2.zip and gsv34os2.zip) into a directory unzip gsv34os2.zip
and start the program OS2SETUP.EXE. Follow the instructions.
Test your installation. If everything is OK proceed to the next step.
Unzip GS650-x86-OS2-HP.ZIP.
Copy the following files into the X:\GSTOOLS\GS6.50\BIN archive:
GSDLL2.DLL
GSOS2.EXE
GSPMDRV.EXE
The file PRINTER.INI is a modified version of the GSView printer list.
Copy it into the X:\GSTOOLS\GSVIEW directory. After this step GSView reconfigure
GSView (start GSView, menu "options, configuration"). Otherwise the HP
printers won't show up in the GSView printer menu!
Now GhostView should be ready to support HP DeskJet 670, 850, 890, 1600
printers
List of compatibility:

You can further simplify the printing process by using a 600dpi PostScript
printer driver (e.g. Apple Color LaserWriter 12/600) together with
the program PRINTMON, which "pipes" the results of the PostScript printer
driver to GhostScript (and your HP DeskJet). The resulting prints have
a very good quality!
An installation instruction for printmon can be found on Uli
Wortmanns webpage. And I want to thank Uli for his excellent driver!
The CDJ880 driver was written by Matthew J. Gelhaus. Thanks Matthew!
Unfortunately the links to his webpage are outdated. Hints are welcome.
Further information about the driver can also be found in the GhostScript
documentation. Which can be found in the X:\gstools\gs6.50\doc directory!
