    essay. It began: "Daddy fell into the well last week..." "My
    goodness!" the teacher exclaimed. "Is he all right?" "He must be,"
    said the boy. "He stopped yelling for help yesterday."

    In Chinese, the words for crisis and opportunity are the same.
