I got a recent email advertisement from SBB on Switzerland's "Golden
Circle" panoramic trains; interesting enough to pass along.
Here's the basic link:
https://sbb.switzerlandtravelcentre.com/?nz-lang=en&nz-currency=CHF&nz-url=%2Ftravel%2Froutes%2Fgoldenpass-tour-luzern-montreux&sap-outbound-
The basic itinerary is two (2) daytrip panoramic trains, bracketed by
three (3) hotels, at the beginning, midpoint, and end of the itinerary. Plugging in some notional dates and no discount passes, figure $1200 or
so for two adults: given that it is 3N + trains, this isn't a bad deal.
Downside currently is some bus diversions. But it could make for an interesting travel plan if scheduled in December, aligning with
Christmas Markets along the way. Similarly, if one is a skier or other
winter sports enthusiast.
