What is the difference with all the logic on board versus the ones that
    are SIMMpler?

I'm filling in for Tim. He stepped out for some really good smokes...

The EEPROM works under the earlier versions of SC.EXE, whereas other old memory expansion adapters can fail to report on-adapter memory during POST.

I > think < the '92 version of SC.EXE can handle the non-EEPROM memory expansion adapters correctly.

If you are dealing with the earlier systems with 32-bit slots like
the 8570 and 8580, the EEPROM version is reliable no matter the SC.EXE version...
