I mean, that must be what it is, right?
Bethesda is marketing a new 'Doom Anthology' edition which includes
Doom, Doom 2, Doom 3, Doom 64, Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal (or rather,
codes to claim the games digitally) in a shiny metal case.. and it
comes with a 5" replica of the BFG used by the eponymous DoomGuy.
But at the bottom of the ad-copy, it states: "THIS COLLECTIBLE IS NOT
A TOY" which means... the BFG must actually work, right? It must
actually spray out death-beams which kills zombies and demons. I mean,
I guess maybe it won't be quite as powerful as the full-sized thing
(it being only a 5" replica) but it must at least shoot something. If
it didn't do that, they wouldn't need to add that disclaimer. Bethesda wouldn't LIE to us about something like this, would they?
That said, if you don't actually own the games yet (and by now most of
you here probably do: these games have been given away for free so
often you probably even have multiple copies!) it's a pretty good
bargain: you get all the games -and a 'not-a-toy' real-working BFG for $40USD... although (as far as I can tell) you do have to redeem the
games on the Microsoft App Store. Which might put a few people off, I suppose.
But put against the value of a working BFG? Worth it! ;-)
(for the humor impaired, this article was written tongue in cheek. Yes
I know that BFG is just a toy, despite what Bethesda claims. And I
hate that the Internet has become something where I now even have to
add a disclaimer like this ;-)
