It was the 'catchy chiptune soundtrack' that did it for me. Look, I've
a certain fondness for the old games with their primitive music-forms,
but that /despite/ how terrible the technology was. I was ever so
happy to move away from square-wave and noise-generators to proper
digitized music. It's not that I still can't find beauty in the chirpy
sounds of 8-bits... but it's not something I want to go back to. And
if that's one of the biggest features of your new game, it's not a
    game I'm interested in getting.

Ant's just trying to steal away the Internet Points for their own evil
    uses. ;-)

Like Dimensional Traveler, I was lost at 'A Vibrant Platformer' but
unlike you, the game got my attention back with the mention of a
catchy chiptune soundtrack. I love those! Probably due to growing up

Forget 'back when we were kids'; I still do that!

Actually, these days I'm more likely to listen to the music ripped to
MP3 or something... but sometimes I do still do it the 'old school'
way. But that's more because I like the... I dunno, the ambience of
playing the game in situ more than I prefer the chirpiness of the old
school synths. There's something magical about realizing a game is
providing such a robust and pleasing experience despite being designed
for a processor that ran 1/1000th the speed of current CPUs and where
its total RAM would be a rounding error for modern PCs ;-)

Almost the same here. Only they didn't include any video/audio on the
steam page so I'm wary and 'platformer' was enough to dissuade me.
