Because you are an old fogie who remembers what a walkie talkie is.

Nope, it's just you.... boomer ;-)
I've no real appreciation of voice-commands. I usually find it --and
the resultant output-- too low-information for my preference. I'm much happier going to a proper screen and finding my info using a keyboard
or mouse; it's not much slower, and the results are more to my liking.
But when I do use them, I just shout them into the air, like Captain
Picard, and expect the robot slave to serve me at my whims. ;-)
Except I still need to go press the button first. I may accept
voice-commands in my life, but I'll be damned if I allow an
always-listening (always feeding corporate data-gobblers) to have full
access to my life. Even Picard knew to double-tap his comm-badge first
;-)

I've never used them. I have enough problems losing my voice. Also I don't want to be embarrassing myself in front of the family shouting "Lightning bolt! Lightning bolt! Lightning bolt!"

Now I'm picturing you in a Starfleet uniform with grey hair, a moustache,
and a Scottish accent.
Only it's not the mouse.

The idea of LARPing I totally jive with, but not that casual kind you
most often see/hear about. Something like the SCA was always a bit
more my cup of tea; it aimed for more accuracy and less running around screaming. Hell, for many the ultimate video-gamer's dream is a Star
Trek holodeck, and that's just LARP taken to a high-tech extreme. The
problem isn't the LARP, it's that we haven't the ability yet to do it convincingly. ;-)
But those kids seem to be having fun, so who am I to judge?

I personally avoid voice commands (my alexa is unplugged and i would get
rid of it if i could), but when i use PTT I do.

IMHO, translate well to live action. An exception I do see is murder
mystery style games where I think the idea of investigating something
does translate.
(American litigiousness has a lot to do with the modern state of
LARPing too. God forbid anybody get hurt in their chosen activity and
NOT sue all other involved parties. So a lot of modern LARP is
designed to avoid that possibility)

Why can't you get rid of it as you're not using it?
