There's me saying I'm not interested in the sale and less than a day
later I've bought a game. Now in my defence I wasn't actually going
through the Steam sale but instead someone mentioned Chaos in a ZX
Specky group. That reminded me of a game I'd heard about, Chaos Reborn -
well at £1.74 I thought why not.

That's happened to me more than a few times; I'm suddenly made aware
of a game that has some relation to another game I remember enjoying,
and all of a sudden The Number has incremented upwards again.

    Nostalgia is a helluva drug.

I do remember it when it was first released but it seemed a bit
expensive as where Chaos really came to life was the hot-seat experience
with a group of friends. The combination of RNG, fake creatures and
tactics really brought out those high-and-lows that to me are core to in-person social gaming.

    At £1.74, I couldn't resist.

I briefly tried the 'remake' the play is nowhere near as fun or chaotic,
it's far enough away that it doesn't at all feel like the same game.
There's some trappings, but it's more different than checkers and chess.

I went looking for emus and clones. I haven't got to it yet, but there's
one called Arena20 that runs in dos box supposedly.
