Hi! As you may already know, I have a DOS laptop. It works fine, and I
want to keep it, but right now, it is only useful to install stuff on it.
I want to use it well, but frankly, it is useless for any purpose but to install stuff on it. I ask for help to make it useful for something. :(

Use it with other devices to control/monitor your home. Modernize your home. --- Synchronet 3.17c-Linux NewsLink 1.110

This is a pretty silly question given that you don't state what
you do with computers in general. Presumably you've come across
lots of software that would do useful things for some people.
Word processing would be a good start.

I'm sorry for the silly question. :( I like and use games,

Plenty of them around of course.

    compression,

Well there are probably more separate compression formats and
software for DOS than for any other platform.

    graphics/sound and programming.

Lots of graphics editors and music trackers available for DOS.
There's also ANSI art, which is mostly designed for viewing in
DOS, presumably there are DOS editors for that as well from back
in the day. Or you could just view some old art packs.

I also like playing and experimenting with things. :)

All one can say for sure is that you do post to Usenet, so if
you set up a PCMCIA network card and find a DOS newsreader that
you like, there's one handy use. It might even wrap the long
lines in your posts for you, which would be a benefit to all.

I prefer doing that on my Win10/64 laptop.

Well if you're looking for things that you can't do with the modern
computer, that's pretty limiting. Things like old games and ANSI art
are at least better suited and more authentic on an old DOS laptop.
Also the parallel port is handy if you're into electronics.

I just like doing everyday things on older hardware. I'm posting
this from a Pentium I PC. Though running Linux, not DOS (it does
boot into the latter upon request, but the PCI WiFi card isn't
configured there (and probably can't be)). But each to their own.

I thank all of you for your input. I can use it for programming. I just need to transfer the code to other computers manually. :)
