    Hi,

    got a new tablet, a "Lenovo Idea Tab 11" (8GB 128GB) - Luna Grey + Pen"

I'm examining the preinstalled apps. One of them is:

    Phone Tracker: Phone Locator
    QR Code Scanner.
    Contains ads

Three times I tried, three times the tablet rebooted, just after showing
the initial advert. When I managed to found it in Google Play, it said
the installation was not managed by GP, but that I could replace it. So
    I uninstalled, reinstalled, opened, reboot.

    Uninstall for ever. Reported.

Curious kind of app, though. Seems to be designed to track the location
of kids, or family members, with agreement.

Turns out it is the tablet fault. There is a popup saying that UI
crashed, app info or close? Either causes a crash. Happens with several
    apps.

    Tried factory reset, same problem.

    This is firmware trouble.

I'm returning the tablet and they will provide another. Will take weeks.

There are more problems. The app "Lenovo avantage" says that I am out of warranty. There is a button to correct this, that they want the invoice,
open file. But the button doesn't work.

It's no consolation to you, but I have had trouble with two Lenovos.
One, I sent back, one I put in the bin. I still have the replacement,
but don't trust it for anything important.

This is the first time I have big trouble with them, and I have several gadgets from them. All my phones but one, my two laptops... I had small troubles before.

If this had worked, what would its advantage be over
    www.android.com\find
Which you can do from any webbrowser.

I used it in Baltimore once when I couldn't find my phone and realized
it had fallen out of my pocket into a taxicab. I made it make a noise,
the driver found it, called me, and I was in no rush and she returned it
    an hour or two later.

And just now I tried it again, with it sitting right next to me, and it
found it in Peru, and shows on the map where it is, and it's right
except for 20 feet. It shows it across the street. It also shows the
wifi network, the % charge, , when last seen, and you can have it play a
unique sound, you can reset it, or you can marked it as lost (which I
think means locked. If you never lock your phone, you have to come up
    with a lock code.)

I don't know if this will work when the phone is off, by giving you the
last location where it was on. That seems simple enough to implement,
    but what do I know?

    No idea...

When I did the initial configuration of the tablet, Google asked my age
and sex, and used that to automatically suggest and install a few apps,
and this was one of them.

This app is used to track family members in real time. Kids, mostly.
That is, of a phone that is not yours.

When powered off, the best it can do is the last location, if it is automatically saved.
