• How To Save An SMS To The SIM

    I have a Pixel 8a, a recent upgrade from a Samsung SM-T719 tablet. In
neither can I find a way of saving a particular SMS to the SIM to which
it relates. Is there a way of doing this?

I do not know how that could be done.
The times where data was saved to SIM-cards went with the advent of
    smartphones and clouds.

    ... and of course e-SIMs

Don't think it's an option. Smartphone memory can store thousands of
text messages, I remember candybar phones as storing just dozens, then
needing deleting in order to receive new messages.

Yes, my researches haven't found anything capable. It's just that the
SMS concerns the particular phone number on the SIM but is otherwise impersonal to me except as a convenient reminder. Therefore it would be
best stored on the SIM itself, rather than anywhere else not directly
    linked to it.

No. Since SMS was invented after SIM you can not store text messages on
a SIM, only phone numbers - and even that is very limited and often even
not supported on newer devices. In some cases you can only read SIM
    contacts but not write them.

clearly you don't remember early 2G phones, with credit-card sized SIMs?
They *did* store SMS messages (as well as contacts) on the SIM

No. Since SMS was invented after SIM you can not store text messages on

That assumes that you can't ever modify what the SIM is, doesn't it?

It seems someone has figured it out:

Yes, I stand corrected - indeed SIM cards were also used for SMS
messages. But I doubt that any current smartphone supports this more
than 30 year old technology for that purpose.

No, it assumes, that SIM storage was not used for SMS and I did not
remember correctly - indeed SIMs were used as SMS storage as well. But
as far I know there is no universal way to transfer SMS to a SIM since
many devices just don't support that any longer.

It seems someone has figured it out:

Yes - it depends on the device and the SMS app used. On Google Pixel
devices this is not possible with the default SMS app and I don't know
if there is an app available at Google Play or F-Droid which supports
    this at all.

I think the OP's question has been answered so I feel safe in mentioning
that many apps (including some of the SMS apps) save to the phone storage.

For example SMS Import / Export imports and exports SMS and MMS messages,
call logs, and contacts to and from phone storage, as I recall. https://f-droid.org/packages/com.github.tmo1.sms_ie/

SMS Backup+ works too, but I think it links to GMail. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zegoggles.smssync

Super Backup & Restore save SMS, Contacts, Call Logs and even Calendars. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.idea.backup.smscontacts

SMS Backup & Restore also backs up to the phone storage areas. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore

I realize none of these are the SIM card but they are an alternative.
