• Linux victim: "random freezes" No freezes at all in Win10

"On windows 10 no freezes at all, any peripherials combination.
On linux mint mate and ubuntustudio - random freezes.
Freeze means system totally unresponsive, stopped logging, no
    networking, only frozen screen.

"So in my case it appeared to be CPU issue. I have replaced engineering
sample QXQ4 to i7-14700kf and freezes disappeared. Very strange it was
    only in Linux."

If it was a CPU issue Windows would freeze too. Thus it's a hobbyware
    issue.

If it was a CPU issue Windows would freeze too. Thus it's a hobbyware
    issue.

    From Brave Search:

"The Intel Core i7-14700K has been reported to suffer from random crashes, particularly under load such as gaming, video rendering, or stress testing (e.g., AVX/AVX2 in Intel XTU). These issues are not isolated and have
been widely documented across forums like Reddit, AnandTech, and the Intel Community.

    Root Causes and Reports
Hardware Instability: Multiple users report crashes during shader
compilation in games (e.g., Fortnite, Tekken 8) and system instability
    even at stock settings.
Undervolting Issues: Some users experienced crashes after using Intel XTU
to undervolt the CPU. Resetting BIOS to defaults often helps, but does not always resolve the issue.
Thermal and Power Issues: High temperatures (up to 100°C) under load have been observed, though this is not always the direct cause. Poor cooling, improper thermal paste application, or inadequate power delivery can contribute.
Manufacturing Defects: According to reports from Tom’s Hardware and NeoGAF (citing unnamed sources), some 13th and 14th Gen Intel CPUs may suffer
from permanent damage due to oxidization-related manufacturing issues or over-voltage exposure, with no known fix for already-damaged chips.
    Official and Third-Party Fixes
    Intel’s Guidance: Intel recommends:
Updating BIOS to the latest version.
    Adjusting BIOS settings:
Set Dynamic Vcore (DVID) to +0.005V (incrementally).
Adjust CPU Vcore Loadline Calibration to Low or Medium.
Use Intel XTU and Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool to test stability.
Collect Windows Event Viewer logs and memory dump files for analysis if crashes persist.
Falcon Northwest’s Beta Fix: A boutique PC builder suggested BIOS tweaks (specifically on ASUS motherboards) that helped stabilize some affected systems. This includes downclocking P-cores to 5000 MHz (multiplier 50)
and adjusting voltage settings. However, this is labeled as beta and not officially supported by Intel or motherboard manufacturers.
    Recommendations
Reset BIOS to optimized defaults and update to the latest version.
Test RAM individually—one user resolved crashes by testing each stick separately, revealing a faulty module.
Avoid aggressive undervolting unless done gradually with stress testing
    after each change.
If issues persist after BIOS and hardware checks, consider replacing the CPU—especially if the chip is under warranty. Intel has been known to replace affected units without requiring proof of damage.
⚠️ Important: If your i7-14700K is experiencing crashes and has been under high voltage or undervolting, permanent damage may have occurred, and no
BIOS tweak will fully restore it. Replacement is the most reliable
    solution."
