On 12/04/16, Indrid Cold said the following...
'retromusic' - I would appreciate if you'll tell more about this build - I'm going to investigate more about DEC PDP8/i, sort of proprietary old server?

I got the PDP8/i kit from this website. http://obsolescence.wixsite.com/obsolescence/pidp-8
He only sells the kits a couple times a year. So you submit your order and
wait till he has enough orders. Then he ships all at once.
The kit is fairly easy to build, if you are comfortable with a soldering
Iron. You get the PCB, LED's, switches, etc and the nice wooden case. All you need to buy extra is the Raspberry PI to run it.
The PDP8 emulation is handled by a custom version of SimH emulator. So all
the LED's and switches work via the PI's GPIO pins.
I bought it for an interesting and different kit to build. Then once I had it up and running. I just have it running a program called 'Deep Thought' which makes all the LED's flicker and blink... like it's actually doing something. Meanwhile the PI3 is just idling along at 1% so I got thinking running a BBS would give the PI a little more to do, while looking great on my bookshelf.
