Can anyone recommend a comprehensive book on Windows 7 Networking
that they have used personally and found it to be ideal for solving
    complex problems?

I have a stack of cisco networking books here from when I took it in college. Not sure how deep you want to get, but I found these to be quite helpful when I was taking the courses.

Which issues are you trying to solve? Or just preparing for the future?

Do they address specific Windows issues? ..or are they particular
    to Cisco branded hardware?

I'm researching possible books for someone. The book format would
be ideal (illustrations of networking options, hardcopy reference)

I am not familiar with the issues the person is having with their
network, or perhaps what kind of adjustments are planned. All I know
is that all the PCs are Win7.

There is a mixture of Cisco hardware & windows in there. It's also a lot of networking theory & fundamentals.

Yeah, maybe the Cisco books wouldn't be the best then. Maybe check out books related to the CompTIA Network+ certification? It's more vendor neutral, still not specifically related to Windows 7, but networking is networking.

Which is weird, I specifically remember flipping to the back to check my answers on the quizzes.
