From Ed Vance@1:2320/105 to All on Mon Jul 27 17:38:00 2020
    Howdy!,

I like using the NoScript Add-on in Firefox.

When there are many Addreses to choose from I will use CTRL-U to look at
the SOURCE of the page to figure out what to Temporarily Allow in NoScript's Option Listing to get "it" (the page) to recognize my Mouse Clicks.

Some pages need one or more Google Addresses allowed to function, or
Amazon's Cloudfront or some Address unfamiliar to me that appears in
    NoScript's Option LIsting.

If I need to I will Search through the SOURCE using the F3 Key and enter Addresss names in NoScript's Option Listing to see if they appear on the
SOURCE page and then Temporarily Allow that one and then check out another Address until the web page recognizes my Mouse Clicks on it.

There are a few Addresses I have selected Always Allow for, and those
are for a Page Address that I regularly visit, everything else gets the Temporarily Allowed selection.

All is fine until I Close that session of using Firefox.

The next time I use Firefox NoScript will have to be used to Temp. Allow
those Addresses again (and again and again...) when I visit a page that
needs "That Address" to work as it should.

I don't always remember Addresses that NEED TO BE USED ALWAYS when I'm using Firefox.
I guess I need to start making a list of Addresses that I know are
"Temporarly Allowable" but I keep losing that elusive ROUNDTUIT to get that (and many others) job done.

Anybody reading have a List or know of a URL to a list of NoScript Addresses that are Safe?

I am too cautious (paranoid?) to Always Allow every Safe Address, thinking
that even a popular web page/web site may get bit by Malware put on it by
a Black Hat Hacker (even for a short time) and my visiting that page would allow the Black Hat Hackers GIFT to get in my computer.

I scratch my head enough as it is when strange thing happen when I'm using
    a computer.

Temporarily Allow works for me, even with my knowing if I see that Address
in NoScripts Option Listing again I will have to let the page I visited work.

    Thanks for reading, 73 de Ed W9ODR . .

No normal person sits there and debugs website code to the level you are describing unless they are being paid a handsome salary.

The scenario you are worried about just doesn't happen. Even if it were to happen, you would likely find out about it on the news first. If you were to
be hit with malware chances are your computer would exhibit tell-tale signs, not your bank accounts.

If you are that paranoid about browser security, then piece together a seperate dedicated system to browse the web with which has absolutely no personal files whatsoever, no saved passwords, no access to any network shares or devices etc.

I usually don't watch or listen to TV or Radio when the News is being told about.

I use Mailwasher free and Mozilla Thunderbird for Email.
If I see an unwanted Email after I used Mailwasher to see if the Mail
Server has any for me I will go to the Web Mail site and delete that message,

Before I Sign In to the Email option, I will see aome links to News Articles and I may read the summary of a few of them and then go do what I wanted to
do, then I Sign Out and use Mailwasher to check Email again, and then
Get Email with Thunderbird and read the messages.

I don't use the computer for any bsnking, If I want to buy something I see advertised by a Companies internet page, I will call their toll free number
to see if they will accept my personal check for the item and then send what
I ordered when the check has cleared. Works for me.

    Thanks for the idea.

I've learned about accessories being made for the Commodore 64 that have
a CAT-5 connector that I could run a cable from that to a port on the Router
to use the internet with the C=64.
And it might be the same accessory that has a SD Card slot built in on it.

Both of those things have crossed my mind, but I haven't desired to shell out any cash to buy new things for the c=64.

My main reason for being a BBS User is to read what other Users write about problems they have, and reading what help Users with more experienced write
    in their replies about it.

I'm a bit more knowledgeable about this here computer stuff that I was
back in 1984 when I bought a Floppy Drive instead of a Cassette Drive when
I got my Commodore 64 pc.

The day I got the C=64 and 1541 I bought a pack of two 5.25 inch Floppy Disks so I could Save some BASIC Programs I typed in from Popular Electronics or Radio-Electronics magazines.

I failed every time I try to Format one of the disks, even though I typed
the NEW command exactly as it was printed on the page in the 1541 book.

It may had been over a week before I got one of those Disks Formatted,
and that only happened because Commodore included a Utility Disk with the
    FDD.
I knew enought that I could LOAD and LIST the Program Files that were on that Disk and while I was reading the listing for the program to Test the 1541 I noticed it had a line with the NEW Command in it.

I Ran the Program and followed the instruction to insert a Blank Disk.
After the Test finished I learned my floppy disk had been Formatted and
I could finally Save what I typed in to a Floppy.

It was many Months before I figured out that I was suppose to use the
OPEN 15,8,15 Command that was at the beginning of the 1541 book before I
typed NEW to wake up the FDD so it would Format a Disk for me.

And of course type CLOSE 15 to tell the 1541 I was done using the NEW Command.

    Speaking of "patterns".

I met a man at a Electronics Parts Store who told me he worked for a Hotel
and serviced the Television Sets there.

When the Owner needed to buy new TV Sets he would buy the same TV Set model
for each Room in the building plus a few more so his technician could
replace the Set that needed repairing with one that worked and take the Set that failed to his shop.

After a period of time the tech saw that the same part would be the cause
    of the Sets to fail.

When he went to the Parts Store he would buy enough of that component to be able to fix that faulty TV Set, AND to be able to quickly fix the next bunch
of Sets that would need the same repair job.

That sounds like something You would probably do too.

At least you do not experiment with overclocking your computer to run
some stupid game and later wonder why it randomly crashes?

I've read about overclocking the CPU.

The closest to overclocking that I've done is to upgrade the 486DX33 CPU on
the Motherboard with a 486DX2-66 CPU the Tech who built the computer for me gave to me after he upgraded his own computer to a Pentium CPU.

"My thoughts" about doing that is that Mailwasher Free just tells the Webmail Server only to DELETE the Email instead of letting the Webmail Server MARK
that one as SPAM and send it to the Email Accounts SPAM BOX, so the Webmail Server CAN REMEMBER what i think it should do to the message so Mailwasher won't even see it.

That is why I go to Webmail and tell it what it should do with future
    messages sent from THAT Address.

Mailwasher Free telling WebMail to Delete the Email each time it sees one
from THAT Address, just because that Address is in its SPAM or Black List(s)
to me is making Mailwasher Free have to work overtime.

My method is to have those Emails never being been sent to Mailwasher free again for it to see one from that Address anymore.

Of course Mailwasher does remember how I marked the Email and most probably sends it to its Black List or SPAM List the first time I mark it as unwanted
so I wouldn't see it when I check Email with Mailwasher Free.

It just tells the Webmail Server to DELETE the message. OVER AND OVER...

You already know I'm a cheap LID.
Others here probably know that too.

Well, ham radio operators are "frugal cheapskates", and there's not
a thing wrong with that. Several years ago, there was a DC to Daylight
rig at Hamvention for $20,000!! Now, I could outfit a nice shack (or
buy a nice car) for that; but for one rig, to me that's overkill.

"My thoughts" about doing that is that Mailwasher Free just tells the Webmail Server only to DELETE the Email instead of letting the Webmail Server MARK that one as SPAM and send it to the Email Accounts SPAM

I don't remember the features of it...but it was lifetime registration,

see advertised by a Companies internet page, I will call their toll
free number to see if they will accept my personal check for the item

I don't do any transactions on the phone app...mainly for checking the balance, and updating the checkbook.

I hope You never get BIT doing that.

I was the victim of identity theft years ago, at a hamfest. They did reimburse the money, but it was a pain to fix. Then, in late 2009, I
ended up filing Chapter 13 bankruptcy. I'm long since discharged from
that, but with what little I get on disability, that's not enough to
    have a credit card.

Don't get me started about those greedy [idiots] in Washington, DC,
    who lament "they can't survive on $200,000+ a year"...they don't have
    a clue.

I also ran DOS 5.0 and used QEMM.
Years later I was at a Salvation Army Thrift Store and bought a CD that had IBM DOS 7 on it.

Wow. I'm going to get a bunch of shareware files from Sean, KS4TD, soon.
I made a donation to his BBS, and he's burning a bunch of CD's/DVD's to
    send to me.

I didn't remove MS DOS 5.0, I figured if I entered a Command, that IBM

The only reason I upgraded to Windows 10 (32-bit on the BBS computer,
which is now on what was my late Mom's computer, 64-bit on the Lenovo
laptop, where I do my ham radio nets, square dancing, and BBS related
items), was for the security issues and updates. Otherwise, I was happy
