I can watch YouTube Videos just fine and Save the ones I want by using Video Download Helper on this here XP SP3 box.
On one web page, I see on Firefox's Status Bar it is trying to get
VIMEO Player (VIMEO Viewer or something like that) to load on the
page.

I use the 'Flash and video Download' app, Ed.

Did you get yours from http://www.flashvideodownloader.org/ ?
The success with Vimeo files seems to depend on many factors.
Most of the time, I cannot get Vimeo files. Using XP here too.
But the lastest Firefox plugin from the above link seems to work!
I forget. Had a sleep since then.
Linux per origin line herewith...
..(a >10-year old Dell 560, BTW -
same OS on both). OTOH, I've had a lot of trouble with apps
& add-ons. For a long while I was using a (highly
configurable) screen recorder till I found most/all of my
add-ons weren't being updated, and I've now fixed the
important.
Probably the same though Linux. It wanted to work, I didn't
want the crap video though. :)

Just for kicks, I went to a Vimeo browse screen and wnet through the motions of doing a download. It wanted to download but I stopped it.
Is that the same app as you're trying?
... If it is it is, then it's it's. If it isn't, then it's its.

And.. considering that it's about 11:30p in your town at the time you wrote back (and at the time I am writing back) you are probably getting set for a longer nap! LOL

Yes.. I noticed that. I was originally thinking of replying to Ed, but some of the content was intended for you too.

I remain totally impressed with the screencapture video recordings with inset screens people accomplish with there PCs. I would like to
produce basic ones to help guide some friends with some computer help.
But the better products all seem to require a payout.

As the World War 2 Bomber Pilot would say: "ROGER, O.K. and OUT!".
There are several nice codec packs, like: K-Lite Codec Pack etc.
The .MP4 files I downloaded from FaceBook.

Firefox shows it Setting is: ESR 52.9.0 on this XP SP3 box.

I'm not really sure but I think that effect is a side-effect of
their webcams. In some "how-to" YT vids I find it downright
annoying.

Ah. What I was using for plain downloading and what would suit that
task is a tool called SimpleScreenRecorder. (All one word.) It's a
Linux app.

ESR 52.8.0 here. Do I dare go to 52.9.0 ?
In the meantime, I learned about Captura and OBS, both for Windows.

What is OBS?
What is OBS? And is Captura something like Google's Captcha(?sp) ?

Open Broadcaster Software
it is what many streamers use to capture their various video
and sound inputs and broadcast their own TV/radio like
broadcasts...
... there are many
streamers that have quit working regular jobs to stream
full-time... a lot of them are making a better living then
if they were punching a clock plus they are doing something
they enjoy... it is all about building a community, having
fun, and being entertaining...
yes, i stream a little bit from time to time ;)

I got ESR 52.9.0 after I clicked the Help tab and then click
the About Firefox option and clicked the Button to check for
Updates a VERY LONG time ago.
Firefox often Crashes on me and what I was doing vanishes
from the screen and the Mozilla Crash Reporter window comes
on the screen. I just click to tell it to Restart Firefox
again.
Many Times - Because I have Many Tabs opened - Firefox will
be real slow loading pages.
Lately I have been clicking the Crash Reporter button to see
the Details of the Crash and then I Click in that area and
press Alt - A and then Alt - C to Copy what's in there.
I have looked at those text files some but haven't been able
to learn what caused the Crash from reading what I saved.
I'm a Man not a Cat, so curiosity can't kill me from trying
to understand what's what in this here computer.
