    Happy New Year,

And the same back to you! As I write this, it is now roughly 4pm in your part of the world, and 9:30a in mine. Hope your 1st day of the new year is great.

I have this day as a time away from work. It is a welcome respite from the usual hectic pace, responsibilities and duties of retail.

The *plan* was to do same basic computer clean-up: [1]purging email folders of outdated material (because MS Outlook has trouble working with .pst files that are 2GB), and [2] popping in some extra ram (that I bought over 6 months ago!) into a main pc at work. But.. I decided I'll just veg out today.

And.. what brings you (OS/2 user) into this WIn95-specific echo? <g> I think many of the familiar names in the past have moved on (one way or another). This echo was a fine hang-out for many things Windows. Much good help and advice arose.

Who really uses Win3.x/95/98 anymore except for limited things? :(

I was completely happy using OS/2 2.1 and then Warp for my fidonet/echomail/sysop/bbs purposes in the past (until I had a hdd crash). I loved its smooth integration of Win support.

But in reality, the newer OSes (even the linuxes) seem to be much better! <G>

Have a good day, and a wonderful year ahead.

    Good evening August,

and thank you for an interesting reply to a short message.

And the same back to you! As I write this, it is now roughly 4pm in
your part of the world, and 9:30a in mine.

It's now 19:39 here while I write this and this msg will move on when
my system polls my host next time.

Hope your 1st day of the new year is great.

Yeah it was asa did the entire christmas holiday along with my loved grandchild+wife who work/live in Stockholm, my two daughters on xmas eve
dinner with the gift ceremony and a dinner at at my sons home on xmas day

I have this day as a time away from work. It is a welcome respite

I am retired so I have a respite every day but working people are free
from the afternoon of xmas eve and then both on christmas day one and two

    .....
But.. I decided I'll just veg out today.

And.. what brings you (OS/2 user) into this WIn95-specific echo? <g>

Actually I have friends using this echo and I use Windows 10pro also.

This echo was a fine hang-out for many things Windows.
Much good help and advice arose.

    Pause.........for news, weather, sport, etc.

Well, I do still have OS/2-W3fWg i my office machine with OS/2 Warp 4
but never use that Windows anymore.

I was completely happy using OS/2 2.1 and then Warp for my fidonet/echomail/sysop/bbs purposes in the past (until I had a hdd
    crash).

I did also start with OS/2 v2.1 from a demo CD and upgraded to Warp3/Win
and then Warp4/Win through various Fixpak's to FP 12.

But in reality, the newer OSes (even the linuxes) seem to be much
    better! <G>

I didn't have any of the Win 95/98/2000/7 versions but received a Dell
Laptop with Win10pro installed as a xmas gift from my Gs in Stockholm who
BTW is the only one of my children/grandchildren that checks my health twice/week.

I just had a call from him that forced another pause......

Anyway I found that version so usable that I bought a stationary machine
with Win7 and upgraded it to 10pro while that still was free.

But I will never trust my BBS to be run under Windows. I had several blue screen crashes "Your PC has got a problem" but after I finally replied to
M$ 'Yes I know, I am running Windows' the blue screens ceased.

Yes, it is. I was born and grew up in Helsinki but after a holiday here
with my wife we decided to move here 1957.

Have a good day, and a wonderful year ahead.

    Same to you.

    Have a good night,

    Holger
