Wolfies still here.. Now running Telegard.. :)

Winserver has excellent potential if it's upgraded to current web standards. It's web interface needs a total re-code. Responsive theme is a must to be smartphone compatible.

Wins antiquated text editor should be upgraded to include a modern html style editor, tinymce comes to mind as it's open source and used by many web forums. Conferences such as Fidonet could be configured to use a text editor to be compliant.

Those are Doc's major concerns with Winserver V7. But also of concern is it's https encryption module that fails an encryption test miserably.

Yes i am knocking it. Santos is so behind the times. When i inquired to Santronics sales if they had a responsive template set for sale, Hector replied asking "what's a responsive template?.

If he does not want to bring it up to current standards maybe he should sell Winserver to someone that will. It's got a ton of potential!

I prefer Wildcat to Synchronet. But my old 1997 Wildcat V5 sometimes has problems submitting new messages or replies via it's html interface. It's just too old and incompatible with today's modern web browsers. That's why i set up Synchronet for those that prefer to read / reply via web browser.

I've customized it's html templates to be semi responsive to the best of my ability. 95% of my callers use the html interface either to download / upload qwk packs or read and reply to messages online.

Spent close to a week trying to customize Wins 7 templates with no success. It defaults to 8px fonts for most everything. Can't read the screen with my old eyes. Also once a message is read it's hidden somehow. Clicking on a conference shows no messages. I finally gave up and restored WC5 from backup, and sent Wins 7 it back.

Winserver has so much potential. But it needs a complete html interface re-code to today's web standards. And a smartphone app to replace it's antiquated Navigator.

Fidonet should consider supporting html and JavaScript. Possibly a nodelist flag for systems that support it.

With the mess Farcebook has turned into, folks will be looking for alternative communities to hang out in. I feel with it's text only interface Fidonet is being held back. My opinion anyway.
