    Hi Guys,

What is the latest from Slackware?

My cut my teeth on Slackware back in the mid-1990s & glad to see its still alive.

Are we up to Version 14?

Awesome! I will grabbing it tonight. I moved from Slack to FreeBSD 100 years ago becuase I found the ports/package management so much easier to manage. But upgrading was a complete bear - just didnt do it!

BTW: I stopped by your bbs this weekend. It lit the fire of getting Ele on Slack running again.

    Thx,
    Phil

You'll like using SlackBuilds (www.slackbuilds.org). There's a program called sbopkg that works with SlackBuilds but as per the Slackware credo, there's no dependency management. There's a fix for that: there is a script called sbodeps (on Github) that uses sbopkg and will solve dependency issues on its own.

There's slapt-get and a few other package managers that other Slack-based distros use but I am not familiar with them.

SlackBuild is awesome! Very easy & once I realized that I still had to run installpkg, piece of cake!

I highly recommend using sbopkg and sbodeps than running a SlackBuild straight. A lot less of a headache.
