• Sunnyside Yard reliability?

The April 2015 Railpace Magazine complained about the service reliability of Amtrak's Sunnyside yard.

The article claims that the Pennsylvania Railroad as late as 1977 offered better service. My own memories of riding PRR trains in the 1960s does not agree--PRR trains could be late, especially in bad weather, have non-working HVAC, and in sufficient
    seating.

The article claims the PRR put on extra cars to accomodate riders during the George Washington birthday weekend. The problem with that claim is that back in PRR days there was no GW birthday weekend--back then, his birthday was celebrated on Feb 22,
regardless of the day of week. After the end of PRR, the Feds passed a Monday holiday law, moving several holidays to always be on a Monday. In any event, as mentioned, the PRR had standing room only during busy times.
