• Still on my wish list...

    Hello Andrew,

And while you are at it, may I remind you of the USEUTC option that is still on
    my wish list?

Subj : Feature request =============================================================================== Hello All,

    In order to make it easier for nodelist clerks to synchronise their efforts across time zones, I suggest the following;

    UseUTC (0/1) (default 0)

This instructs MakeNl to use UTC instead of local time to determine the day of the week and other time related issues.

E.G. When it is Thursday 21:00 local time and it is Friday 01:00 UTC, Makenl will act as if is is run on Friday and use the day of the week number corresponding to Friday.

In some cases, it may be necessary to override the OS's and/or compiler's time functions. So I suggest the following option:

    UseTZUTC (0/1) (default 0)

Use the TZUTC environment variable to derive UTC from local time, instead of using the value supplied by the OS and/or the compiler's library functions.

    Cheers, Michiel

Has any of the ZCs voiced any need for this?

If the Publish day is Friday and makenl is in procees mode, it does not
matter when makenl is executed, it will be a Friday file.

Friday is the default publishing day, all others have to be defined in the
    ctl file.

None of the changes made to MakeNl in the past two decades or so, including the
launch of the MakenlNG project itself has been a response of need expressed by any of the ZCs. Others took the iniative.

    Your point?

    Michiel,

    Your point?

That none of the ZCs, which I would label as the primary concerned scribes, expressed any need ...

It is the addition of a techie-thing for techie-purposes without a real need with some programming work, not too much, but for which there is not going to be a real practical use.

    And let me repeat:

I'm not advocating "against", only highlighting there's no demand.

I think you made your point clear by now.
For not being against it you have a way to remind us multiple times that there is no demand from you.

As it has been pointed out, the changes are minimal, and testing needed is minimal again ...
Is personally see no issue with including it.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Richard,

Nor from "any" other nodelist scribe.

Is personally see no issue with including it.

    Neither do I.
