Hello my friends,

Have implemented JAMNNTPD here at my board and the response has been super positive. However, there are a few message networks My system participates
that uses alias instead of real names... Is there a way that the news
client is aware of that and makes the necessary changes?

nope... the only way to do that is to ensure that the areas are in different groups and then your users will have to sign in with one account to read some groups and sign in with another account to read others... put your real name areas into one set of groups and assign their real name accounts to be able to read and write in those groups... put your alias areas into other groups and assign their alias accounts to be able to read and write those groups... hopefully you can squeeze them all into 36 groups and still maintain access restrictions for those areas that have such...

# <username> <password> <readgroups> <postgroups> [<realnames>]

In the config you can define multiple names in [<realnames>] but when you post,
the first one is used. However, if you do not define [<realnames>] at all, the news client will set the name field. So the user decides which name to use for posting.

Well, perhaps the safest way is to create one account per network for every user. Then they don't accidentally post by alias to fidonet. :)

At the end of the day, I believe it's better to have two servers: One for Fido

and the other for the othernets that use aliases.
