A packed Jyske Bank Boxen was treated to some fine hockey tonight, but most of it was displayed by Canada in a very impressive victory.

Five Canadians had multi-point games including Ryan-Nugent Hopkins with two goals and captain Connor McDavid, who had three assists.

Canada outshot the Danes, 31-15, Sebastian Dahm literally twice as busy as Curtis McElhinney.

"This team is starting to come together," noted Nugent-Hopkins. "In our opening
game, we might have wanted to do some things differently but chemistry is being
found and this is a lot of fun."

"Canada has a really good team with a lot of good players," said Oliver Bjorkstrand in praise. "It was a tough game for us, and they showed that they are a great hockey nation."

As in its last game against Korea, Canada took a little more than eight minutes
to score first, but after that the goals came easily.

The end result was a convincing win over Denmark, and a second victory in three
games to move Canada into second place in Group B, ahead of Finland and behind only the United States. The Danes are now at one win and two losses and stay in fifth place.

Canada opened the scoring at 8:25 when Joshua Bailey got to a loose puck on the
power play from in close. Three and a half minutes later, McDavid started the play that led to a second goal.

He controlled the puck inside the Denmark end before sliding a soft pass to Aaron Ekblad at the point, and Ekblad's shot went through a Jaden Schrwatz screen and over the glove of Dahm. Dahm got the start to give Fredrik Andersen
a breather after he had played the first two games.

The Canadians asserted control in the second, starting with an early goal by Jordan Eberle. Again, it was McDavid who started the play. His shot hit a cluster of bodies in front, but Eberle was right there to knock in the rebound
    on another power play.

Matt Barzal had put the puck in he net in the first minute, but Denmark coach Jan Karlsson challenged the goal on the basis of goaltender interference, and he was proved right. No goal.

Canada made it 4-0 thanks to Ryan O'Reilly, and the visitors added a fifth thanks to a nice shot by Nugent-Hopkins through Dahm's five-hole.

Denmark had some decent pressure later in the period and came closest on a power play of its own when Nicklas Jensen's point shot snapped off the goal post but stayed out.

Nugent-Hopkins made it 6-0 midway through the third on another play started by McDavid, and soon after McElhinney made his best save of the night off a nice rush by Jensen.

The Danes finally sent the crowd into paroxysms of delight when Jesper Jensen Aabo's long shot went through a maze of players and beat McElhinney at 11:53. That made the score 6-1, but to the sold-out crowd, it didn't matter. A goal against Canada is still a cherished goal.

Tyson Jose finished the scroing with a late goal for Canada.

Denmark now gets ready to play Finland on Wednesday while Canada has three days
off and will play Norway on Thursday.
