• Messages viewer is slow

From Alexander Volkov@2:5023/24.3464 to All on Fri Nov 3 09:14:48 2017
    Hello, All.

The messages viewer is very slow when it parses a page with lots of links (urls
and node numbers). For example, when i send the "list" command to AreaFix, it returns a letter with hundreds of links. If I click the letter, it opens immediately and shows simple text for 2 seconds, then application freezes for 2.5 minutes to highlight all the links. I can do nothing during that time. After that the program works as normal.

Could the developer make it possible to disable the link highlighting feature (as an option in settings) or optimize it at least?

The application itself is quite good and I like it.

Well, I guess the issue is not only in url parsing engine, but also in text formatting routines and also android text display controls. I don't think suppressing url parsing could speed up things a lot. But I'll see what can be done.

what is the netmail in size ?

note fidonet is not designed to bigmails

    for fidoconf:

    areafixMsgSize 32

tell hpt afix to split if msg from areafix will else be over 32kb

this is not correct... limits on messages in fidonet are artificial and given by lazy developers... the specification for messages in fidonet says that message bodies are unbounded... that means there's no built-in message size limit... see FTS-0001 for proof ;)

i dont read insane docs :==)

will send you a iso file in netmail and remember to UUENCODE encode it first, so its around 10GB in one single netmail msgs

hopefully this will create better insane docs

    that's a personal problem ;)

uh, no... files are attached and sent raw... they are not encoded and embedded in the message body... encoding files makes them at least 1/3 larger, BTW... so
    a 3Meg file, encoded, is 4Meg...

hopefully this will create better insane docs

this is fidonet, not the internet... besides, FTS-0001 won't be changed any time soon so you should enjoy it while you can...
