I saw that someone said we needed some more traffic in this echo, so I thought I would help with this question...

    Howdy!

Have you started or made a total switch to digital yet? And if so,
which one and what was the main reason for that particular one?

No - I'm still too new, and my main thing right now is I only have an
HT and a mobile rig. Until I can get something set up at home I'm not
    looking to expand anything.

I have started my switch. I have a new Yeasu FT2DR which uses C4FM digital. I also have an Icom ID-31 that is a UHF D-Star hand held. I
plan to get a DMR radio to kind of round it out, and from there make a determination which one is the best for me.

Locally we have a lot of Hams with DMR radio. It seems that is the main one most people here are using. What about you guys?

Would I be able to tell if they are using digital on the local repeaters?

    ... Does fuzzy logic tickle?

There has been some move to digital locally. I just got my ticket
less than 12 months ago, and still don't even have a home unit
(mobile in my truck - mobile in the wife's truck - two HT's),
so digital is not a high priority to me.

I do see the appeal, though...

    Hey Rich,

I just passed the first exam and should be getting my Callsign sometime this week. I also purchased the FT2DR and have been looking forward to playing with it and seeing how it works.

Locally we have a lot of Hams with DMR radio. It seems that is the main one most people here are using. What about you guys?

I am located in Ft Worth Texas and we seem to have quite a mix of repeaters. I'm looking at the iCom 7100 to venture off in the D*Star
world and see what is going on in that direction.

Thanks for thowing this out there.
