Maybe no one goes to the movies or watches them anymore... I know we never go to the movies anymore because we'd have to sell our plasma to afford it. Ticket prices are insane. Whatever happened to the old days of a twin-plex theater that sold popcorn and some boxed or bagged candies and that was it? How come now we have to have a zillion-plex theaters that have cars in them on showcase, they sell beer and every imaginable snack there is, and it's all fancy schmancy? I miss the days of $1.00 movies. :(

Yeah, the dollar movie was the bomb.. I wonder if those big places bought them out, or they just couldn't make money anymore. If I had the money to start a business, I would open a dollar movie again.

I am totally with you on that one, only I'd be super fat from eating all that movie theater popcorn I so love. :(

I can't see how the dollar movie theater didn't make great money, they always seemed to be super busy when I went there.

Maybe they made the costs of buying the movies / rights so great that they were no longer turning a profit?

I suppose that could be true. At any rate they aren't around anymore and it sucks. :(

    Twin-plex... Old days??? <ROTF>

I used to tag-along with dad to the projection room of a single screen drive in theatre when I was a kid. My first gig was in a single screen theatre. I guess *I* am the "old days". <L>

Economics of scale. 'Round here, they pay the projectionist less than a dollar a screen/hour. <Shaking head>
