"They'd call us Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves..."

This could be of interest to people in the USA who are looking to do something. It MIGHT be advantageous to register COBOL skills and
    anything else you may have.

They seem to think the corporate attitude towards contractors may be
    changing.

    Good Luck!

My own experience - as a independent consultant/contractor/hired gun since 1987 - is that 'the corporate attitude towards contractors' remains 'we
pay you more than we pay our employees so that we can call your
conclusions 'wrong' and snigger at how you display your ignorance of the
way that 'things are different here'.'

Getting some Decent Work done in the face of that... ahhhhh, *there* is
    the challenge.

Yes, sadly, I have also encountered that kind of thinking in some places.

Once you get a couple of successes in, it tends to abate. Credibility
and trust have to be earned and, in some places, they certainly don't
make it easy. But if it was easy, everybody would be doing it... :-)

It is quite a few years now since I worked on-site as a contractor so my
view on it may be out-of date.

I offered the link because it MIGHT be of use to somebody.
