Heh... I'd just use your favourite telnet client like netrunner or SynchTerm and have a good look around. There are quite a few BBS out there still.

If I didn't have to worry about thunderstorms so much here in a combination of Tornado Alley and Dixie Alley, the BBS would be up more often. But, I'm not going to argue with lightning...especially with being a 2 time lightning strike survivor myself. :P

There is also a hymn, where one of the verses notes that "Storm clouds rise, and tempests blow, by order from Thy Throne". I can NOT recall what hymn it is in, though...but it shows "who controls the weather".

My former employer found out about that the hard way. Fifteen years ago, he called me into his office, and asked me to arrange "good weather" for a trip he and his wife were taking in the next 2 weeks. I said "Sorry, I can't help you". He growled "I thought you could control the weather!!"...to which, I replied "If I could, I certainly wouldn't be working here!!".

He laughed, sighed, and admitted "Yeah, that's true"...then said "Get back to work". :P

Not many dial-up BBS's anymore, and while the telnet BBS count has shrunk as well, there are still quite a few of them around.

In keeping with the topic of this echo, I have several Christian related doors on mine...although ham radio and weather are the main themes.

Speaking of weather, thunderstorms are approaching (it's tornado season), so I have to finish the QWK Mail and BBS work quickly, and shut things down before the lightning arrives.

One of the reasons I was so interested in the weather in silkscreen printing (even though The Lord controls the weather) was that with the chemicals on the screens to remove the emulsion from a previous design, I couldn't afford to have power go out, because once that chemical dried on there, your only choice was to cut the mesh out, and restretch a new screen mesh on it. Plus, with an electric power washer, even though it was grounded (water and electricity obviously don't mix), I didn't want to be using that if lightning was around. And, thunderstorms in Arkansas are prolific lightning producers. Florida may dub itself as "the lightning capital of the world", but I'd say Arkansas is a close second.

I wish I could remember that hymn that notes in the verse that "Storm clouds rise, and tempests blow, by order from Thy Throne". There are several verses in Scripture, indicative of weather phenomena. The most obvious one is the Noahic Flood in Genesis.
