I liked the idea of bbs-scene.org but it never really functioned since I cam along, so never really got to check it out besides a slightly broken website that used to be there. Too bad it went offline, I would of
offered up some resources / hosting or whatever to avoid it going offline
if resources might of been the issue.
Always a good possibility. I know archive.org has it but is a real pain to pull a website out of there and make it somewhat functional again.
Like for the os2bbs.com file section that I recreated from archive.org files Https://retrodigital.net/os2bbsfiles/ Was a bit of a chore.
I usually use winhttrack or sometimes wget. Took a bit to grab the os2bbsfiles pages and not sure if there is really any need for the files at this point but it gives people that don't want to download the torrent a good place to locate the files if need be.
Is this a small hiccup, or do we need to chip in
and do something to keep that from being a lost resource?
Also, should we coordinate a little and try to mirror the files?
Incidental, I also noticed that bbs-scene.org (along with diskshop.ca)
isn't responding. Hrm.
I would, too... There's got to be an archive of it somewhere. Want to pool together and see if we can't mirror it with some more functional site framework?
Yeah I haven't worked with pulling from archive.org before, but I'm
sure it won't be easy. You have a spider for it, I'm assuming?
May have been a bit of a chore but it looks like you did a nice job on the os2bbsfiles. :)
Yeah, slowly but surely adding them to my BBS. Fortunately, there were a few files there that I needed here on my eCS system :)
