Hey are you going around telling people you BOUGHT renegade?

The guy that runs bbsing.com told me you told him to remove the link
he put up to renegadebbs.net and replace it with YOUR site. and then he says you claim to be the OWNER of renegade and you bought it.

You're the one going around pulling bullshit.

You are not the owner of renegade. Cott Lang is. nobody else.
You didnt buy renegade. Just because renegade passed through a string of losers and you're the last one it doesn't mean you are the rightful owner.

    So stop lying to people.

Anybody that knows anything about renegade knows that except for the y2k fixes by Jeff Herrings, subsequent changes to renegade have been detrimental and overall disliked by renegade bbs sysops.

These include changes to datafile formats, changes to the meny editor system, andchanges to the file base system. Ridiculous additions like the string system which is a convoluted mess.

    Anyways, stop lying to people.
You think you can rewrite history by fucking with wikipedia and telling lies to everyone, but it won't work because I'm here.

You are not the owner of renegade. Cott Lang is. nobody else.

Wow, look folks, he got one right. I DIDN'T buy Renegade. Because I was the one asshole that after everyone else GAVE UP on it, went and looked to see if I could get Patrick to add a toggles menu to the logon, and he gave me the code to keep it alive. Cut 3 years later when Jeff had a hissy fit like a little girl and released the y2k source because he was mad Renegade was being worked on. Yeah, you know what happened.

Anybody that knows anything about renegade knows that except for the y2k f by Jeff Herrings, subsequent changes to renegade have been detrimental and overall disliked by renegade bbs sysops.

Nick was the only one (until you tried to jump on his band wagon about this, and he called you an asshole). He has what he wanted, and he keeps to himself with it. I continue on. No one else voiced any opinions as such over the last 20 years to me. Most of the utils you are crying over is not INTERNAL to Renegade and editable (like 99% of the strings), so you can make it look/act however you want. But you never were the one that wanted to take the easy way ... always trying to play on other people's work with making a "cool batch file" or "rezipping an archive because you think it's better to have doors installed" ...

You don't even post from your OWN board. If you love Rob that much, stay on Dovenet and leave the rest of the world out of this.

Patrick spense refused help many times. he also refused to pass it on all the time. I had a team of people that wanted to work on it and he told them all to fuck off.

Just like YOU, he wanted to be the renegade developer. He wanted to be the guy with his name on it.

code to keep it alive. Cut 3 years later when Jeff had a hissy fit like a little girl and released the y2k source because he was mad Renegade was being worked on.

that's absolutely not true. You're just upset that people used that piece of shit i made. I am in no way a renegade developer. i just put it up there because i figured it would be useful for people.

the way your guy did things, it was a huge pain in the ass to update through various versions.

Most wish you weren't. But I like you .... a lot.

if you knew me you'd know i don't care what people think.

and I'm not a fan of jason scott but he sure hit the nail on the head:

"Note from Jason Scott: For a number of years while I worked on the BBS documentary, I came into contact with a good number of the developers for Renegade software. To say there's some miscommunication between different parties is an understatement. Part of the problem (if it can be called that) is that first of all, Renegade was a popular BBS program, meaning there was significant worth and value placed on feature development and work, meaning more pressure for whoever announced they were working on it. Second, the software's source code has been tightly controlled since its creation, meaning that only authorized parties could develop it. This meant a small web of trust, and also meant that if whoever was developing the software wasn't doing so to the satisfaction of the large (non-paying) audience, they recieved an awful lot of grief. Finally, Windows' acceptance and dominance of the x86 platform meant that Renegade's development was stalled at several critical junctures. As mentioned above, work has continued, but there are a lot of broken hearts and bad feelings left behind with this program."

    That's not what github says.

We used Lee's Git because we didn't want you running your mouth about it and make some stupid ass zip file from it. That's the whole reason I didn't add it to my Git account. Just easier to compare files on Git than how we were up/downloading to the BBS with source.

It's there, but it's not meant for everyone to just come fork it like all the assholes did with 1.19 and did nothing with it. But there you go making your asshole comments about it and posting it on your web page ....

I hear searchlight.com and intermail.com are coming up to be renewed ... why don't you go grab those too and make those cool 1993 netscape compatible webpages.

I've never been trolled. and I never vanished. i'm literally always here. don't disappear and come back like everyone.

What are you talking about? You're being TROLLED NOW ....

I am always saying this shit. just because you're ignorant about me it mea

For no reason but to bitch ... you don't like it, there's the y2k code,
    take it and start over.

you should know. you're the expert on being full of shit.

I have a very easy challenge for you Professor.

Just go grab yourself a node number, join Fido and immediately call for a snap election to replace me as ZC1.

I will agree to an election process so you have a fair chance to prove to everyone that you really are deserving of respect and acknowledgement. ZC elections are often documented in BBS'ing history at least at the nodelist level... so perfect opportunity for you to right some wrongs.

Th election will be ran as it usually does; with every Sysop in this zone
given a chance to vote. An independant/neutral vote counter is decided upon
and all votes anonymous with everyone casting ballots for their candidate with a random preferred passphrase. The counter receives the votes by Netmail and ack's these by posting just that passphrase in the Z1C echo.

Its a very good system of checks 'n balances and theres some Q&A periods and opportunities to contest any votes before a final result gets posted.

The pressure is all on me because I run shit software and am incompetent, so
a Professor like you should win by a landslide. I will politely turn over all my code, software, configs, everything and vanish from BBS'ing forever.

When you are listed at 1:1/0, you have control over the Zone root-segment, so you can finally correct that annoying "unofficial" 1:1/105 entry.

Do you accept my easy challenge? Or shall I grab popcorn when I hear why not?
