Have you ever sold something that ended up in a movie or a television show? Here's one person's experience with that:

Back about 13 years ago, I was in an antique store and found a small box that contained several small sealed vials of "double distilled" water. What intrigued me was that the vials were not sealed with a top or cork - they were encased in an all glass ampules. I bought it and put it up for auction. When it sold, the buyer told me he was purchasing props to use in an episode of the show "Carnivale", a (then) new HBO series. Unfortunately, I didn't have HBO at the time, so I never got to see them used. Sarah F.

Here's a recipe for Holiday Pear and Cranberry Pie from the 1974 American Family Cookbook.

    Holiday Pear and Cranberry Pie

    Pastry for 2-crust pie
2 fresh winter pears, cored (do not pear) and sliced 1 1/2 cups fresh cranberries, rinsed and sorted 1 cup cugar
    2 teaspoons grated orange peel
    1/8 teaspoon salt
    2 tablespoons quick-cooking tapioca

    1. Using one half the pastry, line a 9-inch pie pan and flute the pastry edge.
Roll out remaining pastry. Using a paper cutout of a pear tree with pears and a partridge, cut the tree from the pastry.
    2. Combine pears and cranberries with remaining ingredients; mix well and spoon
into pie shell. Carefully place the pear tree cutout over the pie filling.
    3. Bake at 400 degrees F about 40 minutes, or until fruit is tender and pie crust is light golden brown.
