appropriate birthstones for November birthdays. Topaz: gemstone in a rich rainbow of colors. Prized for several thousand years in antiquity, all
yellow gems in antiquity were called topaz. Citrine, the other birthstone
for November is known as the "healing quartz", said to support vitality and health while encouraging and guiding hope, energy warmth within the wearer.
Citrine can be found in a many shades from pastel yellow to dark brownish orange.

    7. This Week's Stories and Requests for Help We try to post stories and comments from our readers each week. Send your story to newsletter@tias.com.

Ann W sent in this "spooky" story:

"I love going to antique stores and frequent the same stores probably every month or so. I was in one of my favorite stores looking at some items I
was interested in. All of a sudden I felt my jacket hem being picked up
and tugged. I stopped and looked around but no one was there. I went back
to looking and felt my jacket in the back being picked up and tugged.
Deciding that someone didn't want me to have those items I left and looked elsewhere in the store."

If you have a "haunted" collection, drop us a note at newsletter@tias.com.

    8. Facebook Updates

Here's another recipe from the Better Homes and Gardens 1965 ring binder cookbook.

    Yankee Red-flannet Hash
Lightly toss together 1 1/2 cups finely chopped canned or cooked corned
beet, 3 cups finely chopped cooked potatoes, 1 1/2 cups finetly chopped
cooked or canned beets, and 1/3 cup finely chopped onion.

Add 1/3 cup milk, 1 teaspoon salt, and few drops Tabasco sauce; season to
taste with more salt and pepper, if needed.

Melt 3 to 4 tablespoons fat in skillet; spread hash evenly over bottom.
Cook over medium heat until underneath side is brown and crusty. Makes 4 servings.
