And I got your message 3 times. But only the first ended up in the area, the others were detected as dupes and dealt with accordingly. Nothing wrong there... ;)

If you got the double messages from the same uplink, maybe that uplinks dupe checker isn't working properly? Otherwise it's business as usual. ;P

Hmmm, interesting approach... Instead of using Husky on Linux for tossing, I could still run MailManager, but use the more stable binkd over the quite unstable Amibinkd...
But then again I would need to run my A3000 24/7 which increases the electricity bill massively.

I still hope that Mirko Viviani (GMS-Mailer) and Pino Aliberti (MailManager) will release their source code and someone ports it to Linux and/or AmigaOS4.1 and give it some updates. ;)
At least Mirko seems to be willing to release a final y2k fixed complete release when he can resurrect his old SCSI disk. :)

Amibinkd is a disaster. There was a later version that someone who shall not be named more or less made his own and tried to charge money for. It was a bit more stable but would still leak memory and crash the system after a few days. Running Binkd and Crashmail II on a virtual Linux box and then share the folders for it via NFS to the Amiga over the network works fine. Also, thanks to Niklas Lindholm (www.nikom.org) Crashmail II is now compatible with messages

    produced on the Amiga.

That's a lot of things to hope for. :-) The source to CrashMail is available on

GitHub even though it's not actively developed. The author is alive though and accepted a pull request for a bug I fixed a while ago.

I run CrashMail and Binkp on Linux on the same machine as I run the Amiga Emulator where NiKom (the BBS and Fido reader) runs. So the Amiga can access the Fido message database on the same filesystem as everything else.

Actually the fix in Crashmail was not for that. It was for some issues with the

    high water mark in 1.msg.

The compatibility fix was in NiKom to make it produce messages that Crashmail would understand. In the good old days everyone was using Amiga native tossers which would use big endian in all message files (even though the Fido spec says

it should be little endian). So that is was NiKom was using too. Now all of a sudden we're throwing in non Amiga tossers in the mix and then NiKom needs to actually follow the spec.

Well, not that much! I guess many original authors would be willing to release their 10-20 year old source code of their little tool or program as GPL or public domain.
The problem is to find them under their current mailaddress and approach them in a polite and convincing way. There seems to be some other guy(s) that are doing exactly this: @Amigasourcecodepress on Twitter.

    The source to CrashMail is
available on GitHub even though it's not actively developed. The

Having the crashmail source on github is excellent. OTOH, crashmail is already packaged in Debian, so being an Open Source project is a requirement to get released with Debian. ;)
Nevertheless a good decision anyways :)

Amiga Emulator where NiKom (the BBS and Fido reader) runs. So the

Well, I considered using crashmail as well and yes, the background of being originally an Amiga program was one of my main considerations about it. Unfortunately I would have needed other tools that are currently not packaged for Debian. Husky OTOH is packaged for Debian by Philipp Giebel, so I went that

    road.
