Now I'll say right off the start that I'm lazy and have not done the homework..I looked up QWK format stuff off of archive.org and that's about it.

I'm just wondering what the best way to approach QWK based networking is. I'm still building a web forum and I would like to add QWK networking. Maybe the synchronet sources are the best bet?

Also..and maybe Rob Swindell is the best answer for this...what are people using for graphical stuff on BBS systems? I looked at Avatar, I looked at CeeFax and Telidon (NAPALPS). To be honest NAPALPS makes my head swim, although I still think it is a great low bandwidth way of doing graphics. I just wish it wasn't so cryptic.

    I'd start here:

    Mostly, they're not.

    I looked at Avatar,

My recollection of Avatar is that it was still just text/attributes (not pixel graphics).

    I looked at
CeeFax and Telidon (NAPALPS). To be honest NAPALPS makes my head swim, although I still think it is a great low bandwidth way of doing graphics. I just wish it wasn't so cryptic.

As for standards in the BBS world, RIPscrip probably had the most traction at one time. Now, I'd saying nothing does. But if you want to play around, there's Skypix and many others too. It's usually difficult to get working and disappointing once you do. <shrug>
