You got that right... here in VA, th > new communist regime is trying to classify my water pistol as an assau > weapon.

Unironically one of the stupidest movesI have ever seen the Democrats do.
There is not anyone in any party that
feels great about anyone else right
now, and there sure as hell isn't
anyone that wants to put their guns
down. From the hardest-core MAGAT to
    the frilliest trans-woman, everyone is
armed up and suspicious right now, and
no-one is about to be convinced to
    disarm legally or otherwise.

And that's before we get down to the

If you read my reply, you'd realized they didn't do such a thing. A sheriff cautioned people playing an "assassin" game and running around with fake guns probably isn't a good idea in this day and age.

If someone can provide a pending bill in VA reclassifying water pistols as assault weapons, please cite it.

Oh, and for the "water pistols look nothing like a real gun", google it. There are several models that resemble a real handgun.

You and others seemed to have missed the point of my post so I'll explain.

VA dumocrats have passed a bill that makes my Glock 19 pistol the same as an assault weapon because it holds 17 rounds instead of the required 10 (or 15 - I forget which). This means I cannot 'legally' put this gun in my car and carry it to the shooting range.

The water pistol statement was a stab at the reference that now my little pistol is an assault weapon (even though the idiots that passed the bill do not know an assault weapon from a water pistol.)

They didn't used to, and shouldn't, but I don't doubt they do.

I would guess that could get challenged in court.

In the meantime, can you carry it to the range if it is not loaded, or if the magazine is not in the gun, and then load it at the range?

Thanks for the explanation -- the original quote that "democrats are classifying water pistols as assault weapons" (and I'm paraphrasing), might have led people to believe that you were talking about, well, water pistols being classified as assault weapons.

And I have heard it will be very soon. I think the NRA is gearing up.

As for the 2nd part of your question (unloading the gun), I am not sure at this point. All of this is very new to me as the stupid guvnr just signed a pile of bills this week and I am not sure which ones she signed or didn't.
