CHICAGO, IL (April 2, 1998) - The Warpstock Steering Committee has chosen Chicago as the host city for Warpstock '98, the international conference for all users of IBM's OS/2 Warp software. The conference is set for the weekend of October 16-18, 1998.
Warpstock '98 will unite OS/2 Warp users who wish to learn more about OS/2 Warp applications, Java, REXX, and networking for this popular PC software. Through a series of seminars, presented by leading experts, attendees will be able to choose among a variety of topics, both technical and introductory. Tours of Chicago-area businesses using OS/2 Warp will provide additional insight into how the software plays a key role in the marketplace. And Chicago's entertainment attractions and easy access via air, rail, and highway should make Warpstock '98 a memorable destination for all guests.

The Steering Committee evaluated the proposals and voted in favor of Chicago's bid based on its comprehensiveness, attractiveness, and degree of advance planning.
Paul Hethmon, Chairman of the Steering Committee, noted, "Chicago's team put together an excellent bid showing thorough planning, a great organization, and a program sure to please the OS/2 Warp users. The central location is also bound to be a hit with the attendees."
The Chicago group consists of over 20 volunteers, including Timothy Sipples (Chairman), Illona Cowen (Program Chair), and Bill McLaughlin (Facilities Chair). Volunteers are welcome to join the Warpstock '98 team by sending their name, phone number, and e-mail address to volunteers@warpstock.org.

EXHIBITORS, SPEAKERS, AND ATTENDEES SHOW EARLY ENTHUSIASM
Warpstock '98 has already attracted the enthusiastic participation of exhibitors, speakers, and prospective attendees. Buck Bohac, President of Indelible Blue, one of the premier IBM and OS/2 Warp software dealers in the world, remarks, "Indelible Blue looks forward to exhibiting at Warpstock '98 in Chicago. We enjoyed providing software, books, and other OS/2 Warp-related merchandise to last year's Warpstock attendees, and we were highly successful in reaching that well educated and select audience of customers. It's a 'must do' event." (Indelible Blue's on-line store is on the Internet at http://www.indelible-blue.com/.)
Prices for exhibitors are also expected to be at 1997 levels. An information kit for exhibitors is available by e-mail at questions@warpstock.org. (Please include your name, company name, e-mail address, telephone number, and mailing address.) Exhibitor space will be provided on a first come, first served basis. Prospective speakers are invited to mail the same information to questions@warpstock.org.
John Franklin, a longtime OS/2 Warp enthusiast working for a major insurance company, adds, "It's great that Warpstock '98 will be held, and it's even better that it's in Chicago. As a Team OS/2er and user of OS/2 Warp at home and at work, I appreciate a show which can help me get the most out of my favorite operating system."
WEB BANNER AVAILABLE
To help spread the word about Warpstock '98 in Chicago, a web banner and logo are available immediately on the Internet at http://www.warpstock.org/. We encourage all OS/2 Warp-related web sites to include this banner in their pages and to provide a link to the Warpstock '98 page.
X-File, "The Open File Dialog Fixer," is a desktop enhancer which adds major enhancements to the standard OS/2 microscopic "open/save as" file dialog. Nothing paranormal here - just real useful stuff.
X-File runs under OS/2 3.0 or later, is small and non-intrusive, and will save you from the merrily-we-scroll-along syndrome. Works with many apps such as DeScribe, System Editor and SmallEd - see list below for more. Another must-have X utility from the company that gave you X-it and Matrix.

GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN (March 23, 1998) - Today, JMA Software Technologies shipped a major update of WebNav. WebNav 2.0 is a Internet web browser and HTML document viewer built to be compact and easy to use.
Features include online and offline browsing, news and mail support, internal/external downloads, select a new link while a document is loading, easy to use tree based quicklist and others.
But what about WebExplorer and Netscape Navigator?
WebNav is not built to be the all in one Internet application. WebExplorer and Navigator both tries to incorporate as much as possible but we found out - asking our users - that most users prefer separate mail and news clients. Therefore WebNav is built to be a quick and compact browser even though it supports mail and news. WebNav allows you to use your favorite external program for things like mail, news, frames and Java.
WebNav is quite similar to WebExplorer. They both use the same API and share many features. WebExplorer has not changed for a long time and IBM has publicly stated that WebExplorer will not be enhanced. Therefore many users see WebNav as the next versions of WebExplorer.
Netscape Navigator is a full featured browser and mail/news client. WebNav is not built to compete with that. On the other hand the current Navigator for OS/2 is a 2,8 MB file while WebNav is around 150 kb. Many of our users use both browsers.
However the most compelling reason for WebNav is that you can influence the features. Try calling IBM or Netscape and ask for a specific feature, our browser (WebNav) is built on input from our users.
To summarize, WebNav 2.0 contains among others the following features.
WebNav is also available as a DLL that can be called from other programs. Internet adventure (http://www.inetadv.net/) is a popular internet suite for OS/2 ships with a somewhat limited browser. With WebNavDLL you can replace the builtin browser in IA with the full WebNav browser. This DLL is free for registered users and can be downloaded from our web site. Please note that WebNavDLL is still in beta.
WebNav 2.0 ships as Trial and Registered Editions. The Registered Edition lists for USD $25. The Trial Edition is a free trial version that might be evaluated in 30 days. The Trial Edition runs for 20 minutes at a time but you may run it as many times as you like during the 30 day trial period. Any use after the trial period requires you to register. Unregistered use after the evaluation period is illegal.
The Trial Edition is available for download from our world wide web site and from several public ftp sites.
WebNav is also available in customized versions. If your company has need for a specialized and/or featured restricted web browser please contact us for more information.
This upgrade is free for registered users of WebNavigator 1.1x.
For site licenses please contact us via internet mail mail@jmast.se.
JMA Software Technologies offers maintenance and support services for all its products. For information on maintenance and support services visit our world wide web site.
Please note that support is only available to registered users.
WebNav can be purchased through BMT Micro http://www.bmtmicro.com.

EDITOR's NOTE: I have personally downloaded and used the trial version and am extremely pleased with the results. I use an Epson PhotoPC digital camera and the DCITU interfaced nicely with it. WHITE BEAR LAKE, MINNESOTA (March 2, 1998) - Keller Group, developer of the fax software sold as FaxWorks for OS/2 and PMfax, now has special dual-line versions of its popular fax and voice software for OS/2. Available in both standalone and LAN configurations, the new products provide two-line capability at a very attractive price so that small office and home office (SOHO) users can satisfy all their fax and voice messaging needs on the OS/2 platform.
The new SOHO standalone product ($199) allows simultaneous use of two telephone lines for faxing and voice messaging. Many popular fax modems and Brooktrout cards are supported, and scripts are provided for multiple voice mailboxes, fax-on-demand, remote retrieval of voice and fax items, forwarding and paging. You can forward your fax and voice messages to another telephone number, or forward them via e-mail for Internet retrieval anywhere in the world. The same type of fax/voice hardware is needed for both lines, but each line can be separately controlled in the script to provide different fax and voice services on each line.
The SOHO LAN product ($299) provides all of the above features and adds simple LAN support. This product allows "shared mode" use of the fax/voice hardware by up to five other OS/2 workstations and includes the dual-line support. It is intended for small LAN configurations where privacy, routing and other advanced features of the regular PMfax LAN products are not needed.
"These new products demonstrate our commitment to supporting the use of OS/2 by the home and small office user," says Mark Ahlstrom, President of Keller Group. "We have other products for larger corporate users, but we continue to see OS/2 used in small office and home office situations. We want to make it easier for these users to run PMfax for both their fax and voice lines."
PMfax is available in multiline configurations of up to 96 lines per CPU with support for multiple CPUs and may other advanced features, but this advanced functionality is designed for larger LAN and fax broadcasting users and is priced at several hundred dollars per line. The new SOHO products provide the second line at a much lower price, but they do not affect Keller's previous offerings since the special SOHO line cannot be combined with other multiline or LAN options.
All PMfax products are now available for electronic ordering and delivery through the Keller Group web site at http://www.kellergroup.com/.
PMfax is a trademark of Keller Group Inc. FaxWorks is a trademark of Global Village Communication.
