What is it?
FreeJFS is a freeware version of installable filesystem driver
for Journaled File System (JFS) by IBM and set of utilities for JFS
partitions.
FreeJFS is based on freeware and opensource OpenJFS for Unix by IBM.
Why we work at it
- We need FREE, good, stable and reliable version of JFS.
- We don't need troubles like CHKDSK moving all files
with national symbols in filenames to "lost+found" directory.
- (Currently this bug is closed by IBM and named it "errors with
cyrillic characters". They did it after getting our bugreports,
where we fixed this error ;)
Current Status of FreeJFS
FreeJFS.IFS build 1.0 has been working on several systems about
2 months. I saw no bugs, unstable situations or failings.
In the future, we plan to open sources of FreeJFS. Please
be patient and don't bother us with this question.
Using of FreeJFS utilities
- ISJ utility
ISJ allows you to set dirty flag on JFS volumes to "no check" status
and toggle the superblock using to its 2nd copy.
See detailed info in ISJ documentation
- U_JFS utility
U_JFS grabs JFS super blocks to text files
- OpenJFS utilities
It's a set of utilities, compiled from OpenJFS for Linux by IBM.
Warranties
You can use FreeJFS at your own risk.
