This APM.SYS device driver supports systems with Intel Advanced Power Management BIOS level 1.2, as well as systems running earlier versions of APM BIOS. This driver includes bug fixes for APM and support for the new functionality of APM v1.2. It will be included in OS/2 Warp 4 Fix Pack 6, along with a new Power Object to take advantage of the new functionality. To install:

  1. In an OS/2 Window, enter cd \os2\boot
  2. Then enter ren apm.sys *.old If this step fails APM has not been previously installed. To install APM:
    1. Open a new OS/2 Window, enter e config.sys
    2. Search for the line DEVICE=C:\OS2\MDOS\VMOUSE.SYS, where C: is the boot drive.
    3. Preceeding the VMOUSE line, add the line DEVICE=C:\OS2\BOOT\APM.SYS, where C: is the boot drive.
    4. Save the file, exit the editor and close the OS/2 Window.
  3. Download the file APM.SYS to \os2\boot
  4. Reboot
