See Explanation. SuitSat-1: A Spacesuit Floats Free Image Credit: [3]ISS Expedition 12 Crew, [4]NASA Explanation: A spacesuit floated away from the [5]International Space Station 15 years ago, but no investigation was conducted. Everyone knew that it was pushed by the [6]space station crew. Dubbed [7]Suitsat-1, the unneeded Russian [8]Orlan spacesuit filled mostly with [9]old clothes was fitted with a faint [10]radio transmitter and released to orbit the Earth. [11]The suit circled the Earth twice before its [12]radio signal became unexpectedly weak. [13]Suitsat-1 continued to orbit every 90 minutes until it burned up in the [14]Earth's atmosphere after a few weeks. [15]Pictured, the lifeless spacesuit was photographed in 2006 just as it [16]drifted away from [17]space station.
