                          Apollo 12: Self-Portrait

   Explanation: Is this image art? 50 years ago, [6]Apollo 12
   astronaut-photographer [7]Charles "Pete" Conrad recorded this
   masterpiece while documenting colleague [8]Alan Bean's lunar soil
   collection activities on [9]Oceanus Procellarum. The [10]featured image
   is [11]dramatic and stark. The harsh environment of [12]the Moon's
   Ocean of Storms is echoed in Bean's helmet, a perfectly [13]composed
   reflection of Conrad and the [14]lunar horizon. Works of
   photojournalists originally intent on recording the human condition on
   [15]planet Earth, such as [16]Lewis W. Hine's images from [17]New York
   City in the early 20th century, or [18]Margaret Bourke-White's magazine
   [19]photography are widely regarded as [20]art. Similarly many
   [21]documentary astronomy and [22]space images might also be
   appreciated for their artistic and [23]esthetic appeal.
