Only in one location in the United States do four states meet --- the Four Corners of the American Southwest. Here the corners of Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona touch, creating a quadripoint at about 37° north latitude and 109° 03

On February 20, 2020, the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board NASA’s Terra satellite acquired a true-color image that includes the Four Corners. Light lines have been overlaid to mark state boundaries. The Four Corners can be seen in the northeast section of the image. Moving clockwise and starting in the northeast, the four states seen are Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah.

Another notable feature highlighted in this image is the rugged landscape cut by the Colorado River. Originating in the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado and emptying in the Gulf of California in Mexico, the river courses southwest through Utah’s Glen Canyon to the Glen Canyon Dam, on the Utah-Arizona Border. From there it flows south into Arizona, and then turns sharply west and through the Grand Canyon. The large lake behind the Glen Canyon Dam, Lake Powell, is easily visible from space.
