Europe

On July 23, 2019, skies were clear over much of Europe, allowing the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board NASA’s Terra satellite to acquire a true-color, sweeping image that stretches from Poland (east) to Spain (west).

The summer of 2019 has been a sweltering one for Europe. A blistering heat wave in June has been followed by a record-setting blazer across Western Europe. According to BBC News, on July 26, the temperature reached a new record high temperature of 108.7°F (42.6°C). Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands were reported to have reached new record highs of 107.2°F (41.8°C), 41.5°C, 106.7°F (40.8°C) and 105.3°F (40.7°C) respectively.
