The photo above showing red spruce and other conifers decked out in snow was captured following a 6-8 inch (15-20 cm) snowfall in the Dolly Sods Wilderness of West Virginia. It was taken on April 2, 2021. Dolly Sods, a high altitude plateau ranging from approximately 2,500 to 4,700 ft (760 to 1,430 m), forms the eastern rim of Canaan Valley, one of the highest valleys in the eastern U.S.
