So 15-20 years ago the place I worked at decided to "retire" a
bunch of their old equipment. This was basically stuff that didn't work
or was obsolete. So I picked up a couple Mac SEs with the idea of seeing
if I could get enough working parts between them to make a computer.
Sometime after that I acquired (how I don't remember) another SE
and either a Plus or an SE, I forget which.
Eventually I realized that my ability to plug boards into a PC
was not up to the challenge of making a working machine out of these
things. During the process of trying, though, I did try to boot the
original two. My impression at the time was that one had a bad display,
but seemed to be booting, while the other had the display light up, but didn't seem to be doing anything like booting.
I'm not sure I ever tried to boot the other two I got later.
I also got at the time an opened but fairly pristine copy of the prevailing OS for those machines (6? 7?). Hopefully I haven't tossed that out when the wife came buzzing around about cleaning the office. This was floppies plus the manuals, in the box and pretty new looking. I don't
think I ever even put the floppies in a drive, and the workplace probably didn't either (IT tends to use one set for everybody in that situation).
From what I've laid out above, could anyone hazard a guess as to whether any of this has any actual value and interest? Frankly, if they don't have any real value, I would probably give them to the first person who wanted to pick them up, but I do wonder if the software might be
worth something (assuming I can find it).
Also, where would be a good place to try to find somebody
interested in this stuff?
