I generally only watch documentaries on YouTube, but since you posted this,
I took a look using Freetube on Windows (which is a PC free YouTube app).
*Android vs iOS: What's the real difference"
    <History of Simple Things
"Right from the start, iOS is about control" is a direct quote.
"Android, on the other hand, is about freedom" is another.

"Control vs freedom is what defines these two ecosystems today" is another.

Then it covers that iOS has no freedom, but that's the point.
Apple's profits are a direct result of the lack of control in iOS.

He says that "for some people the lack of control feels reliable, but for others it feels restrictive". It asks "do you prefer freedom or not".

"On one hand, Android gives consumers endless options", where "the quality depends on who is behind the wheel".

Then he went on to the App Store which he says means "slower updates" and "less freedom for developers", where he says "Google allows developers
    higher freedom" than does Apple.

At time 5:41 is where the author fucked up.
He says "it's a tradeoff between safety & flexibility".

And yet, we easily proved there is no added safety in iOS.
SO it's not a tradeoff after all.

The "tradeoff" is (admittedly brilliant) Apple marketing propaganda.
    There is no tradeoff.

In safety, iOS is no safer than Android.
It's only then a question of restriction versus freedom.

iOS ===> designed solely to increase Apple profits alone
Android ===> designed to allow anyone to do whatever they want

Then at 5:53 he says "updates take longer to roll out", and yet he already said iOS "takes longer to update". He says the 6s "received updates" for
over 7 years, but he doesn't actually understand updates at all.

He says "Apple leads the pack" in update duration, which is proof.
Since Apple is currently the worst in updates among the flagships.

The guy simply spouted the propaganda.
But even so, his claim is iOS is restricted, while Android is freedom.

He did mention that Android comes with "massive batteries" at 7:25, which
he says Apple has no comparison to (which I've been saying for years).

While he says "Android gives you far more flexibility" at 8:05, he doesn't understand that iOS prevents you from doing what you want to do.

He says "neither Android nor iOS is objectively better" but that misses the point that the functionality of iOS is garbage compared to that of Android.

After listening for 8 minutes, all he spewed was the classic propaganda.
He may as well said that the earth is flat for all the value he added.

To compare what matters between the operating system ecosystems...

Apple's Formal promise is 5 years minimum of iOS + full security updates. Google/Samsung (S) formal promise is 7 years & multiple Android releases.

This is important for people to note who haven't thought about differences:
    a. At any given time, only a single iOS branch is fully supported.
    b. At any given time, several Android versions are fully supported

One way to think about it is Apple mobile devices are on a single train,
where users have a ticket for 5 years to get on that full support train.

But there is no other train.
The instant an iPhone gets past the full support period, it's toxic.

The contract with iPhone competitors such as the Samsung S series & Pixels
is that there are multiple trains, all running in parallel.

Galaxy S & pixel users full-support tickets are almost 1-1/2 times longer.
And they can get on multiple concurrent trains (which iOS users can't do).

These are some of the reasons why Apple's full support is the worst in the industry, and yet, most people think it's the best. Why?

HINT: Apple Marketing is brilliant. Android marketing sucks.

    Chris,

You are the troll here, because if it takes you more than ten seconds to
figure out my posts, you're a moron - so your complaint is patently absurd.

It's just ridiculous for anyone to claim they can't figure out when I post.

You own the 'racist mentality' which is to take a single condition out of
many, and strongly conclude your racist rants based on that one condition.

For example, a bank robber might wear a mask but you've already concluded
that everyone wearing a mask is a bank robber. It doesn't occur to your
'racist mentality' that a bank robber has to actually rob a bank.

Likewise, it doesn't occur to your 'racist mentality' that a troll has to actually troll. To you, a troll is anyone who cares about privacy.

Given that observation, you are the troll here because you're trolling us
with your off-topic racist rants, whereas I kept all my post on topic.

Firstly, I described your behaviour was akin to that of a troll. I did not

They call anyone sensibly logical "Arlen" where you have to wonder why.
    I've studied them for years.

Basically, if you say anything that Apple doesn't tell you to say, then
you're "Arlen" to them. That's just how their rather strange minds work.

Moving forward, I seem to be the only one who posted on-topic responses.

Given I assess that I know iOS & Android better'n almost anyone on this newsgroup, my assessments are apopos although the YouTube video only
    repeated the propaganda.

The facts are that iOS is no safer than any other operating system.

The facts are that iOS is designed as a dumb terminal in that almost
nothing you like in the ecosystem works without logging into Cupertino.

The facts are that iPhones lack basic industry standard hardware.

The facts are that Apple's hotfix support is the worst among the major competitors (such as when compared with the Pixel & Samsung Galaxies).

For me, one of the biggest differences between the iPhone ecosystem and the Android ecosystem is the inability of the iPhone to run basic software.

All of that is true, but the video didn't cover any of that correctly.
In fact, the video claims iOS is safer, when, clearly, it is not.

What's telling is we gave up all our functionality for safety.
And we got no safety out of the deal.

    Apple profited.
    We didn't.

Having said all that, Android has its problems too.
But most of those problems (e.g., fragmentation) are avoided if you stick
with the competitors to the iPhone such as the Galaxy & Pixel phones.

Although even those have followed Apple's lead of removing basic
functionality so that you'll spend your money on them in order to get it
    all back.
