AMD Ryzen 7 4700U. Good enough for me. The Fedora box is a gen 4 Intel, again good enough. The Lubuntu laptop is about gen 0 Intel -- really not good enough.

The refurbed ThinkPad T480 has reached

Thursday, October 30 12:07 PM Completed customs clearance.

However, it also said that Saturday before recycling. I believe it's
caught up in a trade war with Canada. Had I checked that the vendor, Computer Deal USA, isn't in the USA I would have made another selection.

If I ever see it it should be speedier than the old netbook.

Gov't shutdown could be interfering. Hope you get it soon.

Friday, October 31 8:39 AM Package is out for delivery.

We'll see. I have no idea what went on. Last Friday the tracking said 'Initiated customs clearance at destination country.' at 11:54 PM and 'Completed customs clearance' at 7:32 Saturday. Then it kept recycling initiated and completed.

When I was trucking I'd cross the border quite often. You were directed to
the customs building and presented your manifest. It was usually handled
by a customs broker. It was seldom more than 30 minutes and you were on
    your way.

I assume Trump's tariff war with Carney trickled down. When BC was at war
with the US over the salmon fishery dealing with the border became less pleasant.

When we were setting up equipment in Canada I had all the paperwork in
order and had to state I was performing work that couldn't be done by a Canadian. As I was clearing one time there was a shoe salesman with his
sample case in the next aisle. They were trying to collect duty on the
shoes and he was heatedly pointing out all the samples were left shoes
without a salable pair in the batch. I don't know how he made out.
