But as a phrasebook of MSA, it is really very good. It gives a good guide to pronunciation, gives some grammar, and provides all entries in Arabic and Roman transliteration. Like most phrasebooks, it is separated into topics (weather, greetings, hotel, etc.) If you are studying MSA, it's not a bad book to have, either, as it makes MSA more conversational.

Review: Pros: Content is vast and you often get cultural information as you go through the book. There are plenty of phrases and if you are willing to deal with the lack in Arabic writing quality on Kindle, then good for you. This book should provide what you need. Seems to have more proper transliteration than most sources I've come across.
Cons: The physical copy might be fine, but the Kindle version only presents the Arabic and transliterations as blurry, low resolution photos instead of being actual text, which is baffling to me. Yeah you can tap on the photo and get locked into a photo-viewing format allowing you to zoom in, but that doesn't change how blurry it is and makes the digesting of the book too slow. If they can somehow update the photo quality, then I'd prolly give 4-5 stars.... Also another criticism which is more for the general language acquisition content, there is a common misconception that transliteration should be a constant crutch throughout all of the learning process. If it takes too much emphasis, learners may tend to think in transliterations instead of acquiring the alphabet and pronunciations. This book at least has CORRECT transliteration from what I saw so far. A lot of online sources have gotten it wrong.

Review: This is an excellent phrasebook. I would highly recommend it as it offers a phrase for any situation you could think of. The only problem is that the Arabic in this book is Modern Standard Arabic, which is mainly used for writing. Arabs write in MSA, but speak in dialect. Don't get me wrong, you will be understood but it would sound funny. It would be more like someone speaking Shakespearean English to a contemporary English speaker
