    is this device toast?

    I bought this:

    https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0BV5V4TVS?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

The 'container' hype is a bit overplayed but the adapter works.
A 3.6tb spinner used regularly in the desktop shows exactly
the samne with fdisk when connected with this adapter to the
    Lenovo T480 laptop.

That is a very interesting device; I was going to buy a 'simple' adapter
for pulled spinner/s because I don't have anything, but that
'complicated' one might be a better choice; it has a lot more features
than I need, but it doesn't cost much and it could be much more
'powerful' in terms of alternate uses.

I'm trying to make sure its USB3 Type A connectivity is backward
compatible, which it must be; I'm also trying to find the device at
maiwo but they don't have a search feature.

    I don't think it is there; it is a K10435 (I think). Here's a manual
    for it:

We're not allowed to see honorable 12V 2A wall adapter.

At first sight I thought I'd been had again, "just another adapter like
the junk I had before" and that Carlos told me to junk and get a 'containerized' one instead. Everyone seem to be gung-ho about
containerising, I'm just burning a Suse Micro-OS install dvd too. So the
first thing I did with the super-adapter without its container was take
a spinner from my desktop and plug it into the laptop; this resulted in
chaos before but now it seems to do fdisk the proper way. I've done no
    other test with it.
