• Gelatin finings smell

I tried preparing gelatin finings to clear a batch of beer. I
followed the instructions to dissolve a half teaspoon in water, let
set for one hour and then boil. After boiloing I noticed that it
smelled like sewage. I searched the Internet and found that another
person found this to be the case but there was no reply as to why.

I couldn't bring myself to add the foul smelling stuff to my brew.

    Anyone else have this experience?

No, but I don't look at the beer I'm drinking, so I don't care what it
    looks like.
