The best ever of Troughton. Still amazing stuff.

I'll have to somewhat disagree. It has the best *bits* of Troughton, I concur. But it's just too long for anyone to maintain a totally
    consistent quality throughout.

Or rather, maybe it's just too long, full stop.

I like long-form stories better. It gives time to develope the new
    charaters and world.

This is sort of like the Key to Time Season. Different scenarios
and you can develop new world. Note that DW can be Earth centric.

Good point. After all, The Android Invasion is all of season 7
squeezed into just 4 episodes. (Artificial people with guns built
into their hands. The monsters' leaders disagreeing and plotting to
kill humanity with plague. Mysterious space-suited figures, and the
Doctor riding in a British space rocket. An evil duplicate Earth with
evil duplicate UNIT members, and a man with an eyepatch.) But despite
its faster pace, it's a lot less popular than the full season 7.

The end of War Games is interesting. The Timelords order/force the
Doctor to change his shape, but they don't say "regenerate" and the
Doc wasn't dieing. Does it really count against his maximum number of regenerations?

Yes it does. This counts against him.
Think of it as capital punishment. He interefered and therefore
must be punished. That is how I view it.
